Danny Brown is a rapper based out of the Detroit area. Attempting to bridge the gaps between hardcore East Coast styles, gangsta rap and more experimental sub-genres of hip-hop, Brown is a somewhat mysterious figure who rightfully refers to himself as "The Hybrid." His style is quirky and weird, full of shifting flows from his versatile voice, which often bounces around, changing tones on the fly. Brown has established himself as a rapper now well ingrained in the Detroit scene, and his recent tour schedules and festival appearances appear to have him poised to make a bigger splash sooner than later.

Seattle sextet The Head and the Heart marry indie folk arrangements with a songwriting aesthetic that's located somewhere halfway between Laurel Canyon and the shores of the British Invasion. While the group's shimmery, three-part harmonies put it squarely in the "beard rock" pack that's largely based out the Pacific Northwest, The Head and The Heart sets itself apart with the consistently inventive stylistic left turns its songs make on a very regular basis.

Somewhat of a straight-laced, no frills alternative to the druggy psychedelic era of the late 1960s, Gary Puckett served up numerous AM radio singles that were big hits with fans of unabashed sunshine pop. Whether performing solo or with his band, the Union Gap, Puckett has retained the crooning sort of showmanship that guys like Neil Diamond made legendary careers off of. Light, somewhat schmaltzy rock is fleshed-out with horn lines, canned string sections and of course, lyrics full of tales of unrequited love and infatuation. Puckett's classic 1968 ballad, "Young Girl," was a huge hit in the US and reached #1 on the UK singles chart. Now over 40 years into his career, he continues to tour frequently.
