The next time you plan to go to Mansfield, Ohio, make sure to visit the Kingwood Center. It is a historic 47-acre (19-hectare) estate dotted with gardens and greenhouses that were designed by architecture company Pitkin and Mott in 1926 for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelley King. It opened as a public garden in 1953. An interesting thing about the gardens is that they were built around Mr. King’s existing swimming pool and that the pool could not be accessed without walking through the garden room that was situated close by. The Kingwood Center featured on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Truly, it is a landscape worth discovering.

The First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield is a prime historic site in the region. It was built in 1891 and is located on Park Avenue. Ministries within the congregation comprise of those for women, education, prayer, Bible studies and youth. The church building follows the Romanesque and Victorian Romanesque style of architecture, and is remarkably listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
The St. Peter's Church is a historic church located in Mansfield, Ohio. The church was built in 1911 in the Spanish Revival and Romanesque atyle of architecture. The church features a Greek style pedimented portico with pillars and columns at the entrance and two towers at either sides, lending the structure a strikingly symmetrical layout. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
The Ohio State Reformatory, or Mansfield Reformatory, was built in 1886. In use till 1990, this historic prison allegedly gets its haunted status from the death of 200 people during its functioning. The Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society undertakes several restoration programs and tours are offered to experience the evident paranormal activity. Explore the Romanesque Revival building that houses two chapels, a confinement section and jail cells. It also played film set to The Shawshank Redemption.

This beautiful structure, known as the Most Pure Heart Of Mary Church, is a historic church built in Romanesque architecture. It has a serene atmosphere as is surrounded by verdant greenery. The church hosts several events throughout the year. The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and organizes services conducted in the community. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
