As its name suggests, Mur Mur (Wall Wall) is entirely dedicated to climbing. For those who are used to relaxing and enjoying a change of scenery as they scale cliff faces, this 250 square metre artificial wall (with more than 200 routes to climb) is well-known because it is not always possible to get to real rock faces. Mur Mur is open all year round for children and adults alike (children must be accompanied by an adult) and it also offers initiation afternoons for children. Equipment, such as a harness and a carabiner is provided.
Quai des Ludes is an association which dates back to 1901, and is dedicated entirely to children and to games. The ludothèque (games centre) offers, invents and tests more than 200 games that can either be played there and then, or even rented. Some of these games have been adapted for handicapped children. Quai des Ludes is no ordinary ludothèque: it offers all kinds of advice on games and toys, it welcomes mothers and babies for certain events ("Mother and baby afternoons") and organizes birthday parties (including use of the games, a function room and a well-equipped kitchen).
Patinoire Charlemagne is a large rink in Presqu'ile with skating charged to the individual or by the group. Special rates are available during weekends. Children under 7 can skate for free. Hours are extended during school holidays. The rink also hosts hockey matches on some evenings, as also certain national and international skating competitions, and ice-skating performances.
An large, well-tended pool directly in the center of the city and only a short distance from the Rhône. Its location and size result in scores of patrons during the summer months. a 20th century heritage site, the pool is a magnificent architectural wonder: pleasing to the eye and accommodating a huge number of people every year. It took a long time for Lyon to have its own real indoor skatepark, but the local rider community eventually made itself heard! Located in Gerland, a mere 15 to 20 minute ride from the center, the park provides skateboarders, rollerbladers and BMX riders with mini and big ramps, handrails, quarter pipes and all the usual skatepark equipment. A very important resource in a city that counts a lot of young riders of all kinds, the skatepark hosts regular contests and showcases. All riders have to pay a small yearly membership fee to access the park and minors need parental consent.
Located by the Saône, this society offers motor treks for private or business groups through all kinds of terrain. The treks usually last for either one day or a weekend but it is possible to arrange treks of a longer duration, either in France or abroad. If your mind is overflowing with ideas, the society will research every plan so that your objectives can be realised. As the outings are often tailor-made, prices depend on your own plans.

A branch is to be found in all the main towns: it truly is a pioneer in its field. There's no place more reliable for organizing trips, whether they be for walking, climbing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing or rambling, canyoning, mountain biking, para gliding and mountaineering. They also conduct various certificate courses on surfing, mountain biking, snow sports, trekking and hiking. In short, if you want to go on a sporting adventure, this is the place to visit. Located within the Gadagne museum, this museum's exhibit is all about France's best-known puppet - Guignol, created in Lyon in 1908 by the silk worker Laurent Mourguet. Mourguet was the inspiration behind Lyon's satirical street theater, thanks to his three creations - Guignol, Madelon and Gnafron, who poked fun at the forces of law and order and the king. The museum depicts the evolution of Guignol and Company, both through their performances and the ways in which they were made. Additional puppets from around the world are also on display.
La Cigale de Lyon selects children from throughout the region to be part of the choir, which has won numerous international prizes and performed for General de Gaulle, François Mitterrand, and Pope Jean Paul II. Their repertoire is mostly composed of A Capella pieces, but some are accompanied by piano or an orchestra. They have performed numerous concerts (on tour) in Europe, North and South America, Russia, China, and Japan, and have recorded several CDs. They have also been part of a huge number of competitions and festivals and won many accolades over the years since their founding in 1947. Check website for more details.
The UFCV organizes sporting holidays for those aged 4-18. One hundred retreats overall are offered in France or abroad during school holidays, so that children can discover or improve in a sporting activity such as horse-riding, diving, skiing, climbing or walking.
