The Louisville Recreation and Senior Center may be small, but it has many good features that help it hold its own against the fancier Boulder rec centers and private gyms. The Louisville Rec is located next to the Louisville Arboretum and includes several outdoor additions such as free access to the arboretum for picnics and outdoor walks, tennis courts, and a skate park and playground for kids. Inside, the rec center has two pools (one for kids and one for adults, including lap lanes), a water slide, sauna and steam room, several racquetball courts, two gyms, a full mile indoor track, and a selection of workout equipment that competes with what you'd find at any larger gym. Admission is fair, even for non-locals, and a variety of fitness and educational classes for adults and kids alike are available as well. -Sabrina Zirakzadeh

K & K Piercing is not only the best known of Boulder's piercing parlors, it's also the safest and most affordable. Conveniently located on the Hill in the midst of the University of Colorado student district, K & K is surrounded by many other piercing places, but has held its own and become the area's most popular for good reason. Though small, the staff knows what they are doing and get it done quickly and efficiently, even for walk-in visitors without prior appointments. The jewelry selection includes plenty of sterling silver and gold options for those with allergies and sensitivities, and the prices are considerably lower than those at other local establishments. All the cleaning and post-care products are available in-store, saving you the extra trip to another shop for sea salt or antiseptic soap. By far, K & K Piercing is the place to go! -Sabrina Zirakzadeh
