Il Castello di Torre de Passeri
Torre de Passeri
Torre de Passeri, 65029
This castle, well known for containing one of Dante s homes, is a national monument and can be reached from the A25 from Pescara. It is most known for housing one of Dante s homes. Other highlights include a fourth-century sarcophagus, the remains of Roman columns and the imposing facade of castle itself. A small, 18th-century courtyard beyond the entrance has a stone floor and many arches on the walls that lead to the upper floors. There are interconnected rooms on the upper floors with ornaments and 18th-century furniture. Enormous antique barrels on the lower floor were used for oil conservation. There is a little chapel on the lower floor as well. At the rear of the castle there is a toll tower, Turris Passuum
, that gives the village its name.
