Chiesa di Sant'Angelo

Also known as Santa Maria degli Angeli, this church was built on the remains of a temple dedicated to Vesta, dating from 331-340. The brick facade is divided horizontally by a cornice and small arches. The pointed portal is decorated and the lunette has an ancient picture of the Virgin. The interior has three naves with pillars that have traces of 15th-century painting. There are frescoes on the apses from the 12th and 15th Centuries showing the Eternal Father
, the Saints and other biblical scenes. The church is situated on a hill just outside Pianella and can be reached along highway 151 which leads to Pescara from Loreto Aprutino.
