Leenan Bay is in the secluded townland of Urris, Clonmany. Edged around by smooth pebbles and with waves crashing to the shore, this is a beautiful spot during winter and summer alike. The beach is protected on one side by Urris Hill and Mamore Hill, which tower above the strand, and on the other by Leenan Fort, a military installation now unfortunately in a state of disrepair. The bay marks the point where the Atlantic meets Lough Swilly, giving the clear sea a distinctly bracing movement. The beach is open throughout the year and access to it is free.
