»Nickelback

March 02, 2015 8:00 PM

The Canadian-bred Nickelback, led by raspy vocalist Chad Kroeger, is an updated grunge outfit. The band combines hoarse yet passionate vocals and distorted guitars with radio-friendly hooks and catchy choruses to create a style of music that individuals who don't like to think too hard about what they're listening to tend to like. The band is often labeled as Canada's answer to Creed, another fairly successful post-grunge band, but while Creed gained popularity with a huge sound and enigmatically pious led singer, Nickelback embraces its small North American town roots with a bit more heartland-style vulnerability.
