The multi-talented, Tony-nominated Jonelle Allen, star of stage ("Finian's Rainbow" and "Two Gentlemen of Verona" on Broadway) and screen (Grace on "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"), dons yet another hat -- this one large and sequined -- when she stars in "Hello, Dolly!" at Saddleback College. Allen brings new life to the iconic role of the vivaciously meddlesome Dolly Gallagher Levi, a mischievous matchmaker in turn-of-the-(last)-century New York City. Dolly's been hired to arrange a marriage for the widowed half-millionaire Horace Vandergelder. However, she has secret plans of her own. With a cast of delightful characters, beautiful costumes and a fabulous chorus, "Hello, Dolly!" overflows with joyful tunes, including the title song, "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," and "It Only Takes a Moment." Myrona DeLaney directs with choreography by Roger Castellano and musical direction by Lex Leigh.

A smart-mouthed, grungy mother-to-be finds herself in a moral struggle between adoption and child-rearing in the new drama "Rock of Ages". Though similarly titled to a popular Broadway musical, this play by B.A. Arrowsmith is a much different, much more subtle work. Set on a church patio in the 1990s, "Rock of Ages" portrays a confrontation between its young protagonist Dena, and Flora, a middle-aged, strict fundamentalist Christian. As these two very different human beings debate Dena's pending choice, both characters are revealed to have many layers which, when stripped away, expose not only a cycle of abuse but the growing power to stop it.

Just three years -- that's how long it took for rocker Buddy Holly to change music history forever. A hit Broadway musical, "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story" follows Holly's childhood in Texas, his musical beginnings with a group of high-school friends who later gained fame as The Crickets, his meteoric rise to fame, and his tragic early death -- all set to a soundtrack of some of rock 'n' roll's biggest hits. One of the first "jukebox musicals," the show features "That'll Be the Day," "Not Fade Away," "Peggy Sue" and "Oh, Boy!" among other timeless early rock tunes.
