This 26,000 acre inland sea offers plenty of opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, hunting, and camping.
This stately Greek Revival mansion was built for Benjamin Harvey Hill, a U.S. Senator and acclaimed orator. The Antebellum home is filled with antiques of the period and features elaborate woodwork around the doorways and large windows which were hand carved by slaves. The home is open Tuesday through Saturday for tours.
This grand structure was once the historic home of Senator Benjamin Harvey Hill. Built in the Greek Revival architecture style, this fine home features an exterior of ionic columns across wide porticos. Enter the mansion and you will be mesmerized by the humongous carved wood cornices that grace the doors and windows, the black Italian marble mantels and plaster ceiling medallions. The house is furnished in late 18th-century style and several period furniture, family mementos and portraits adorn the house. A National Historic Landmark, the house is included every year in the Tour of Homes during the LaGrange Hydrangea Festival. The Bellevue is also available for rent for weddings, receptions and other events.
