»Sold Out : Beth Hart With Matt Andersen

March 06, 2015 8:00 PM

To lump Beth Hart into any one defined genre like folk or soft rock is doing a great disservice to the intensity she brings to her music. Sure, she's rooted in both those styles, as well as blues and classic rock. But Hart possesses an absolutely commanding presence on stage - whether backed by a full band or left to her own devices with just a keyboard and the trembling waver of her voice - that puts her more in the world of Janis Joplin as opposed to Jewel. The tension and vividness of Hart's tales of smoky bars, damaged relationships and her love/hate affair with Los Angeles have kept her a cult favorite since the mid-1990s.

»Craft Spells With The Bilinda Butchers & The Keeps

March 06, 2015 9:00 PM

In a vie to fight boredom and the monotony of a harsh winter lifestyle, Justin Paul Vallesteros started composing his own original style of bedroom pop in 2009. The resulting material managed to be extremely catchy, electronic-influenced music with tinges of chillwave and lo-fi production aesthetics. Vallesteros dubbed his musical endeavors Craft Spells and after a few music blogs caught wind of some of his tracks and posted them on their sites, Vallesteros' music started to receive a good amount of buzz for his tunes. Based out of the sleepy, Central California town of Stockton, Vallesteros released his debut LP, Idle Labor, in 2011 and since then the young musician has been touring and creating a reputation for himself as an interesting musician who creates memorable indie pop music.

»Jason Connelly

March 06, 2015 6:00 PM

What started as a one-piece singer-songwriter act in 2009, has now become a growing project. Mid 2010, The Jason Connelly Band was launched, a sound caught somewhere in between the old sounds of the late and great Ray Charlesand the new sounds of the soulful, yet modern, Ray Lamontagne. In April 2012, The Jason Connelly Band added Ben Kriff, a dynamic lead player with rock and blues roots. Bens soulful leads paired with Jason’s unmatched voice that ranges from full on gospel to funk, soul, and country all wrapped up in one createswhat we know today as The Jason Connelly Band. From some of the finest concert halls of the southeast to the gutter themed nightclubs of Bronx, NY, The Jason Connelly Band has truly captured the right to call themselves a fully-fledged gigging band. In the spring of 2011, fans and music lovers were given Leave Your Hat at the Door, a compilation of work produced and written by Jason Connelly and Keith Hirsch, and were blown away by the dynamics of each track. Every lyric and every melody seemed to dispel any rumors that music was no longer thought-provoking.After a year of writing, singing, and trying to decide the sound and direction of their next upcoming record, the boys had written so many songs in such ashort time that one record was not enough. In the midst of creating Something Beautiful, Something Tragic. a full-band production record similar to thatof Leave Your Hat at the Door due to release at the end of 2013, the idea of Homemade Wine was born. Homemade Wine is an intimate, wine-sipping,solo-record meant for those cool summer months in the wait of the next production record. Make no mistake, Homemade Wine will do anything butbore you. Meant to capture the powerful voice of Jason Connelly in his natural light paired with only the strings of his guitar. It is the perfect giftfor the fans anticipating the next heavy hitting record, Something Beautiful, Something Tragic.
