Anyone who has seen the inspiring Free Willy movies will always remember the orca who acted in it. He was Keiko who went on to become the most famous of his kind in the world. This gentle giant was born in 1977 and was brought into captivity when he was just two years old. Devoid of his natural habitation, this killer whale suffered ill health for most of his years. The movie generated a lot of interest and the Free Willy Keiko was established. Massive rehabilitation process was taken to return him to the wild. He eventually arrived in Skålvikfjorden where he was taken care of, till another attempt to set him in the wild was planned. This is where he died in 2003. Keiko's Memorial Cairn was built in his honor. The ever piling stones are a testimony of the impact that Keiko had on countless people worldwide.
