    »Armstrong County Courthouse and Jail

    Constructed between 1858 and 1860, the Armstrong County Courthouse and Jail is a stern structure positioned at Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. A celebrated historic courthouse complex, it is a two-story building built extensively with brick and stone. It measures 105 feet (32 meters) by 65 feet (19 meters) and the roof is hipped. A characteristic feature is a portico coupled with four Corinthian order columns in the Greek Revival style. The years 1870 through 1873 marked the construction of the jail building that stands at a measure of 114 feet (34.7 meters) by 50 feet (15.2 meters). The site can be viewed from Monday to Friday between 8:00a and 4:30p.

    The Saxonburg National Historic District is a prominent U.S. national historical district. It was constructed and developed over a massive span of time from 1831 through 1952. The most relevant styles of architectures found in the structures in this district are the Greek Revival and the Gothic Revival style of architecture. The site stands listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The site spans over a 9 acre (3.6 hectares) land cover. Most of the district is comprehensive of residential, industrial and commercial building structures.
