The Provo, Utah-based Mormon band Neon Trees is not your conventional Christian rock band. The group doesn't include religious principles or beliefs in any of its lyrics and dress more like glam-rockers than Mormons from Utah. The music of Neon Trees is closely related to the upbeat, dance rock that had its rise in the 80s but ultimately makes bona-fide pop songs about heartbreak and personal failings. The band has opened for such acts as The Killers and My Chemical Romance, and its debut 2010 album is titled Habits.

Louisiana rockers Better Than Ezra have had a tumultuous career, but certainly don't seem to want to quit. Formed in 1988, the four-piece started gaining underground fame for its circulating demo tape, but was met with a sudden halt when the band's lead singer committed suicide. Though the band contemplated whether or not to continue for a couple years, the group finally decided to go on as a trio and was almost immediately signed to Elektra Records all in 1993. After releasing its multi-platinum debut album, the group was considered an overnight phenomenon and signed on for two more albums. Because neither of these subsequent albums did as well as expected, Elektra dropped the band in 1998. Instead of breaking up, however, the band decided to start its own label and continued to release post-grunge, alt-rock records through the 2000s, changing its lineup slightly and eventually being signed to Capitol Records in 2010.

A Southern California native, Gary Allan should logically not be a Nashville country star, but growing up with a father who played honky tonk at various bars, eventually incorporating his son into his live acts, it was only natural that Allen would find his niche in the country music world. Before finding fame and while playing small venues, Gary Allan took a job selling used cars. With aspirations of making it big, Allan did everything to spread his name. At one point Allen put a demo tape of his into a used car that he sold to a wealthy couple. The two were so impressed with the demo, they gave him $12,000 to travel to Nashville to properly record his songs. Allan did just that, and before he knew it he had a professional recording contract with a major label.

Though the Los Angeles-based alternative rock band Weezer has gone through a few different incarnations and permutations since it arrived on the scene with its well received 1994 debut album, the group has managed to evolve with the times and reinvent its sound to stay relevant. After the group released its critically lauded 1997 sophomore effort Pinkerton, Weezer went on hiatus for a few years before it returned with 2001's The Green Album. The LP helped introduce the band's music to a new generation of fans and the group's easy to like, pop-centric songs helped Weezer enjoy a high level of commercial popularity. Having since gone on to release subsequent albums to mixed critical reception, Weezer has proven itself a band with longevity and staying power.

Martina McBride is an American country music singer and songwriter. McBride has been called the "Céline Dion of Country Music" for her big-voiced ballads and soprano range.McBride was signed to RCA Records in 1991 and made her debut the following year as a neo-traditionalist country singer with the single, "The Time Has Come." It was not until 1997, when she released her fourth album, Evolution, that she broke through into the country music industry with a new pop-styled crossover sound, similar to that of Faith Hill and Shania Twain. From that point on, McBride has had a string of major hit singles on the Billboard country chart and occasionally on the adult contemporary chart. Five of these singles went to No. 1 on the country chart between 1995 and 2001, and one peaked at No. 1 on the adult contemporary chart in 2003.McBride has recorded a total of nine studio albums, one greatest hits compilation, one live album, a Christmas compilation, as well as two additional compilation albums. Seven of her studio albums and two of her compilations have received an RIAA certification of Gold, or higher. Worldwide, she has sold over 18 million albums. In addition, Martina has won the Country Music Association's "Female Vocalist of the Year" award four times (tied with Reba McEntire for the most wins), and the Academy of Country Music's "Top Female Vocalist" award three times.
