Cape Hatteras National Seashore stretches for over 70 miles (110 kilometer). It preserves the natural beauty of the area. The seashore was nicknamed as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic" because of the erratic and uncertain currents and storms. Most of these tales relate to shipwrecks, lighthouses, and some of them were even caused due to the United States of America's Lifesaving Service. This shore provides a natural habitat for the migrating animals, fishes and birds. Fishing is considered to be one of the best activities in this region.
