The Springs Aquatic Center is one of many water parks scattered throughout Jackson County and across the border in Kansas. This one is located in south K.C., right near the airport and it offers three different zones, each one perfect for everyone in the family. The 'Leisure Pool' is where all the excitement happens, it has two water slides that plunge into a large pool below. 'The Sprayhouse' is where all the kids hang out safely and 'The Bathhouse' is for the adults. The center also has concession stands, lockers, lifeguards and many events throughout the summer. This historic landmark is such an important part of the community because of the pioneering courage its famous inhabitants embodied. Most notable among them are statesman and painter, George Caleb Bingham, and later the Waggoners, a well-established flour milling family. Its 19th century architectural details, furniture and paintings are worth a look. Now offering tours at reasonable prices: adults $5, senior citizens $4.50, and children and students $2. Also available for rent and is often used for weddings, large conferences and family reunions.
