The third Médiathèque to open in Montpellier, this center is particularly popular with the children and adolescents. It is organized around five different sections: adults, children, language laboratories, a games library (ludothèque) and a section devoted to music, cinema and video. The five poles include a wide range of media, including comic strips, books and magazines as well as CD-ROMs, videos etc. The games area should be reserved in advance and children of less than six months should be accompanied by their parents. Staff of the games area are there to advise and accompany children in exploring the diverse games spread between three separate rooms according to the age group concerned.

The classes are based on the principles of breathing, relaxation and physical postures which can seem twisted but are effective if done properly. The workshop allows you to experience the correct postures and set about the changes necessary for a beneficial practice. Call to find out more information and class schedules.

»Laserquest

This is perhaps not the most sophisticated of activities but that does not mean it is not great fun. A 200-square meter (2152-square foot) indoor terrain allows young and old alike plenty of opportunity to stalk and ambush one another with harmless laser guns. While it is enjoyable as both an after-school and an after-dinner activity, adults should prepare to be utterly humiliated by some 12 year-old child who inevitably takes the top spot in the players hall of fame.
