Pine Lakes is a 6,760-yard course which was originally designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee and then completely renovated by Clyde Johnston. The course, which meanders through ocean forests and undisturbed hammocks, is "the only course in America that allows players of all ages to compete evenly." Pine Lakes and Jekyll Island are the official hosts for the annual US Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup.

»Georgia Sea Turtle Center

A rehabilitation hospital for turtles, this center offers educational opportunities for children and adults. With audio tours, a hands-on museum, exhibit gallery, a large viewing area huge viewing area where rescued and sick turtles are treated, visitors will learn about their habitats and the conservation efforts of the center. Visitors are also allowed to go behind the scenes and get up close to the turtles. There is a gift shop with books, souvenirs and other turtle related items. The center also offers field trips and summer camps. Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Located next to Great Dunes Park at the beach is this fun miniature golf park with two challenging 18-hole courses. From beginner to experienced, players of all ages will enjoy the sport. Each game is USD6.50, three games are USD15 and 10 games are USD45. Children under age four are free. The golf courses are lit for evening play. Parking is also free in the lot across the street.

Located on the Jekyll River by the Historic District across the street from the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, the marina pier has two restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining, restrooms and a gift shop. Waterway boat tours are available from here to view dolphins along the Intracoastal and the luxury "cottages" built during the Golden Era. There is no admission charge. For those who like to fish, they can do so from the end of the pier. Otherwise, this is a lovely place to take a stroll, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Open in 1983 as part of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, this center offers hands-on marine programs to anyone who is interested in conservation. Activities include kayak marsh tours on Rixen Lake, 1 1/2-hour guided nature walks and educational opportunities. It has a touch-tank, interactive displays and exhibits with sea turtles, fish, snakes, crabs, alligators and other area critters. Workshops and programs include salt water fishing clinic, beach ecology, Summer seining, coastal explorers and even "Astronomy Nights."
