National Elk Refuge

675 East Broadway
Jackson, WY 83001

National Elk Refuge as the name suggests, is a large sanctuary established for the protection and preservation of elks in the country. The city sees the largest migration of elks, and therefore this place was opened in 1912, to create a natural habitat for them. The refuge which is looked after by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has seen more than 25,000 elks, thanks to the efficient facilities and efforts towards their conservation. The elks shed their antlers every year, which are auctioned for charity. Set amidst wetlands, mountains and lush greenery, this place is a spectacular sight especially during snow-clad winters. A great visit!
