    Birkdale Golf Club has all the trappings of a classy golf establishment, a few miles north of Charlotte. 200 acres of lush green, designed by Arnold Palmer, await professionals and amateurs. However, tee times have to be booked 8 days in advance. Birkdale's Conference Room, Birkdale's Club Room, and Palmer Pavilion are all rentable spaces on the premises, available for business meetings, private gatherings and charity events. Arnie's Tavern, an on-site bar/restaurant caters to hungry golfers.

    The Washington Redskins coach and his team organize regular racing events since 1991 to collect money for various charities. Fans can come and watch some wild action on the course as they cheer on the very professional drivers. The posh venue also features the odd workshop that educates aspiring racers on the nitty-gritties of the sport, while guiding them toward a glamorous future in motor-racing.     This facility aims to help protect and conserve birds of prey, and is located inside the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, a short drive from Charlotte. It seeks to educate people about raptors, erasing misconceptions that society has towards these creatures, and tends to injured, sick and orphaned birds. Due to imprinting and contact with humans, birds at the center cannot survive in the wild. They are, therefore attached to their handlers, and pose no threat to visitors.     18 holes and 7,000 yards of rolling greens await you at this challenging venue, called “Charlotte's Crown Jewel." Tall trees and curving water hazards pose some of the toughest obstacles; hence the venue is a favorite with those who like to test their skills across the beautiful lake. Open to both men and women, the course has a 15,000 square foot clubhouse with separate lockers and a practice range, a putting green and a grassy driving range for amateurs. The course is open through the week, though tee slots need to be booked for a fee.

    For an entertaining session of golf, head to this semi-private golf course nestled in the Iredell County. The 18-hole course has been serving golfers since 1979. The beautifully landscaped greens are spotted with several trees and water hazards making the game more challenging.
