Teutoburg Forest is a lovely forest area that is supposedly the scene of a decisive battle in the 9th Century. It has interesting wildlife and is covered by a lot of deciduous vegetation. The Teutoburg Forest was earlier known as Osning.
The history of the Evangelic Reformed Church of St. Johann dates back to the late 14th Century which is evident from the elements found inside the tower dating back to the time. Since its renovation in 1996, the church has been used as venue for various religious concerts, choir music shows, lectures and seminars throughout the year.
A town hall is an important landmark of its town and it represents the culture and the entire community, Paderborn is no exception to this. Paderborn's Marktkirche is a beautiful structure, with a Baroque-style facade, is located not too far from Kölner Jesuitenkirche. This church has services everyday, and the Sunday service is what many locals look forward too. Gospel music events are held from time to time.

Hämelschenburg Castle is often cited as the finest example of the Wesar Renaissance. The most striking feature of this complex is that it was left virtually untouched after its construction was completed in the early 17th Century. Built in Wesar sanstone, this impressive castle has 3 moated wings, two towers and an access bridge. The complex itself consists of charming structures that include a watermill, a church and gardens. A prominent architectural feature of Germany, the castle is on the itinerary of every tourist visiting this part of Germany.
Kiewiese is a long stretch of road in the city of Herford. It is mostly a residential areas but there are various shops and restaurants too, making it quite a busy stretch. The sidewalks are covered with trees, thus, on a lovely sunny morning it is a very pleasant place to take stroll on. It also is a preferred spot for local events and music concerts. A must visit!
Herford Abbey used to be one of the oldest nunneries in Saxony. It was consecrated in 789 CE by Waltger, a nobleman. It has many historic buildings within its premises and used be a great center. The city of Herford grew around the establishment. The abbey church is still used for prayers.
The Carolingian Westwork and Civitas Corvey are a part of the gorgeous and historic Schloss Corvey, situated close to River Wester. Both the structures are said to have been built between 822 and 885 CE. The Westwork, the western facade of the building is apparent the last remaining Carolingian westwork, displaying some of the finest examples of architecture native to the Carolingian era. As such, Corvey used to be among the most significant monasteries of that time. The Civitas Corvey, on the other hand, comprised of the periphery of the monastery. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, Carolingian Westwork and Civitas Corvey makes for an interesting visit.
The Rathausplatz is an important road in the city of Herford as the town hall resides on this stretch. This road is one of the busiest roads in the city, as all the town officials are constantly traveling here. Situated in the heart of the city, it is also the perfect venue for local events and cultural shows. The road in itself is a pleasant stretch of thoroughfare as it is surrounded by verdant landscape, making it a perfect walking path! A must visit!
