Clubbing on the beach can't get any better than at Club 705. Away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles city, Club 705 is located on the picturesque and peaceful Hermosa Beach. The beautiful beach front venue adds the glitz and glamor that the club possesses. The funky, colorful and jazzy interiors, give a very sassy yet comfortable feel to the club. Club 705 features rocking live acts and gigs by some great artists each night and you will always find hordes of people dancing to the DJ's tunes here. What's more, the club also houses the beautiful Ardmore Restaurant where you can satiate your hunger with some finger-licking American delicacies on offer.
Home to Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars, a local jazz group, Lighthouse Cafe is a great place to arrange parties, fundraisers or corporate events. Besides some wonderful innovative cocktails, which are a must try, Lighthouse also serves vodka and other spirits. To perfectly complement these drinks, the place offers chicken, salads, barbecued pork, burgers and sandwiches. Each day of the week sees different genres of music including reggae, rock and jazz.
Naja's Place is a good for beer, good food and good friends. The house band is called the Land Sharks, a cover band that is a lot of fun to listen to. In keeping with the laid-back atmosphere of Redondo Beach, Naja's does not require shirts or shoes—this alone is what draws many people in every day. It is a little bit of a dive but that is part of the charm. If you step outside on the patio and take in the sun while drinking a cold one, you will think you are on the coast of Mexico - in a dive bar, of course.
Current Affair is host to both new and old school R&B acts, as well as great jazz and blues. This is music for the soul and if it doesn't get you moving, nothing will. Everything feels new and shiny, both the interior and the atmosphere. The clientèle comes from all over, but are mostly locals who know where the real music and entertainment is. Great drinks and a small menu of appetizers to please your palate are available while enjoying the talent and tunes.
Rusty's Rhythm Club offers weekly swing dances weekly at the Elk's Lodge in the Playa Del Rey suburb of Los Angeles. All ages welcome and a full bar, Rusty's dances take place each Wednesday and the first Friday of the month. Beginners can partake in a quick 30 minute dance lesson at the beginning of the session, while seasoned dancers can brush up on their skills. All dances feature live music by local swing bands.
Club Good Hurt is West Los Angeles's happening nightclub playing all genres of music, ranging from reggae to techno. The theme of the club works well here, where the bar has a pharmacy feel to it with a Rx sign above it. The pretty cocktail waitresses serve the drinks in style. Don't miss their signature drinks Transfusion and Ta-Kill-Ya, there is no hard liquor served though. You can also use the pool tables or sit on the street patio and enjoy a good smoke. The place is also available for private parties, theater events, dance and art shows as well.
Based on the film, Casablanca, this Mexican eatery makes for quite a unique combination of themes, but it works. Located right on the corner of Rose and Lincoln, this restaurant creates a fine selection of dishes ranging from the tangy chicken to a dish cleverly named "Play it again, Carlos," which is a steak that is marinated with Dos Equis beer. No matter what you order, the best part are the homemade tortillas, which are made on a stove right next to a life-size replica of Humphrey Bogart. Weekends bring live entertainment, but try not to say, "Play it again, Sam."
On the Main Street in the middle of Santa Monica lies the liveliest of dance destinations Main On Main. Themed nights, an ever-revolving party scene and a host of live events, make this place a happening party destination. Check out the drink menu which has the best of beers and cocktails. Main On Main is where it's all at!
This place is always crowded and deservedly so. There's something undeniably hip about a place that doesn't try to be cool - it just is. The no-frills approach is evident on the wood-paneled walls and the scarcity of seats. No great loss, though - once the crowd forms, you have to stand to get service from the beleaguered but friendly bartenders. Plus, you can always count on great music playing and no cover at the door.
A great hangout with equally good music, Carbon is a must visit for all party animals. Carbon is known to be very lively and has DJs playing everything from hip-hop, electro to deep soul and retro rock. You can also relax at the cozy and comfortable lounge area while sipping your favorite drinks. The dance floor, though small, is always crowded. The drinks are reasonably priced. A great way to spend a night in Culver City.
The African culinary culture is alive and well from both sides of the Atlantic in this little hot spot. The place hasn't been around long but it is already making ripples throughout Los Angeles' restaurant scene. Though somewhat simple, the Industry serves up delicious home style American Soul Food in addition to Ethiopian Injera specialties. As well as the great food and diverse beverage menu, local jazz performers make daily weekend performances along with a special performance on Wednesday's. Comedy night is also a big hit with patrons looking to spice up their night with a few laughs.
