Nestled in Norway's southern region, Mjøsa is a scenic lake approximately 100 kilometers (62.13 miles) from Oslo. Popular as one of the largest lakes in Norway and also as one of Europe's deepest lagoons, Mjøsa remains a popular fishing site. The lake's waters are home to 20 fish species including greyling, Brown Trout, Hundertrout and European perch, among others. Mjøsa also remains an idyllic spot for leisure boating. The only and the biggest island on the lake is Helgøya. Several tiny islets are also found on the lake and the most intriguing is the Steinsholmen isle which houses the relics of an ancient citadel.

»Morskogen

A vast expanse of scenic woodland, Morskogen is nestled on the picturesque Mjøsa lake, one of the biggest in Norway. During the 1940s, the woodland was the site of a battle between Norwegian Army and German Wehrmacht which brought victory to the latter. Today, Morskogen is renowned as being located on the E6 road, notorious as one of the most risky roads in Norway. The ancient Morskogen railway station is found on the Dovre rail line nearby.
