Ostwerk offers something special in "the East". Especially on Saturdays, the Ostwerk rocks with a partymix and pure charts with DJs Phillip and Markus Beis. Opens everyday at 9p.

»Jackie O.

The atmosphere here is a bit like a 1970s village disco, although the decor is more eighties. Jackie O is a notorious disco for youngsters, frequented by school kids and youths from this part of town. Groping, getting smashed and non-stop partying is the order of the day. The dance floor is always full, and the young males sit in rows watching events unfold. The music is a good guide to the tastes of today's youth - hip hop, soul and chart music for the most part. Turkish pop is played on Saturdays.

»Die Bar

Die Bar is located in Kultfabrik which is Munich's party area and this is a haunt for youngsters looking to gulp down punchy cocktails while having a good time grooving to R&B and Hip-Hop music. The nightclub and bar is two story high, drinks can be enjoyed at the top floor with a wonderful view of the dance floor below. At Die Bar, the ambiance is always lively and full of vigor. As you drench in the hues of red here at the Die Bar, you are sure to become oblivious to the time passing by.

»KW - Das Heizkraftwerk

Whether you prefer 'World League' (star DJs from around the world mixing different types of house records), or 'Powerplant' (advanced and progressive techno or trance) it's pretty much all here! It might not be an easy choice, but there are certainly some great events staged here. There is a fairly relaxed door policy and punters are varied and even older people are getting into techno these days.

»Wies'n World

One of the larger clubs in the Kunstpark but one which many locals to be honest try to avoid. The owners try to recreate the atmosphere of the beer tents at the Oktoberfest week in week out, with brass bands, Maß'n (litres of beer), long tables, waitresses in dirndl and so on. It's an idea that works OK at the end of the day and some Bavarians use it as a chance to have some fun regardless. Things really gets going at weekends after midnight when they play pop and rock music too.

Kultfabrik, or Nightclub Zone, boasts 23 different clubs in Munich, each with a unique style including 80's, hip-hop, techno, latino, and Irish pop music. They also have four restaurants including Mexican and Balkan food. Sports including Capoeira, dance, and fight training are also offered in four different locations. There are many more affiliated locations including art exhibitions and locations for the whole family.

As its name (an homage to what was perhaps the world's first science fiction film) suggests, Metropolis is themed around everything futuristic. From the blacklights and strobes of its lighting system to the sounds of its DJ's, every detail contributes to a feeling of having stepped into some distant age and planet.

A popular disco (not quite a 'club') situated in a former factory, Titania plays mostly mainstream chart music. The punters are mixed - many come from outside the city - although a proportion have simply been turned away from everywhere else in the Kunstpark. This is by no means the hippest of clubs, but there's a great party atmosphere, the bouncers are friendly and prices reasonable. A large beer costs (EUR 3).

»Titty Twister

With 'monster rock', punk, shows with fire eaters, fakirs, striptease and many such events throughout the month, this somewhat dingy club is popular with hardened fans of Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino and the like. Even if a few of the customers look a bit dodgy, the atmosphere is relaxed, although it can get a bit excessive on weekend nights. The staff are friendly, the bouncers easygoing and the prices reasonable.

»Bongo Bar

This is one of the best clubs in Kunstpark Ost in terms of atmosphere. The dance floor is situated in a large room with mirrors on the walls and ceiling, seats around the outside, chandeliers, a stage and a balcony. There is also a side room with a cocktail bar and a heated terrace in wintertime. Good quality Thai food is served until midnight and drinks are reasonably priced, but most people come here for the dancing more than anything. Friday and Saturday nights are known as 'Dancefloor', but be warned, it gets very crowded, hot and sweaty after 1a. The clientele is a good mix and by no means exclusively young, but there's a definite in-crowd here.

»Natraj Temple

Natraj Temple is for those who love dancing till the wee hours. The DJs, who are frequently stars (albeit not very famous) of their respective scenes, are masters of their musics: goa, trance, psychedelic, ambient. The dancers are, in the majority, very young and, thanks to the friendly doorman, well mixed, but predominantly weird and freaky. Admission is a tad too expensive, but worth the eclectic experience this cool place promises.

The Colosseum is the larger concert hall in the Kunstpark Ost in what used to be an industrial warehouse (like practically everything in this area). Comedy, jazz, pop and rock concerts take place here, as do musicals and other events. Club nights provide a good opportunity to meet members of the opposite sex and once a month there is the Mega Flirt Party with a love wheel, a flirting office, games and plenty of music.
