The Curecanti National Recreation Area is a formation of the Gunnison River reservoirs. Bordering the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, it features on the National Register of Historic Places. The other main attractions of this park are the dinosaur fossils, narrow gauge trains and 6000 year-old dwellings. It is governed and managed by the National Park Services and is spread over an area of 43,095 acres (17,439.9 hectares).
Encompassing a mind blowing area of 1672136 acres (676689.43 hectares), the Gunnison National Forest is a haven for outdoor activities.
