»Inner Healing For Deep Wounds Conference

April 18, 2015 8:00 AM

Throughout each year, Healing of the Heart (HOH) Ministries provides free counseling to children and adults of all races and genders whose lives have been radically altered as a result of one or more of these acts. Though our churches occasionally speak on these issues, they do not deal with them on a day to day basis. As a result, for the past three years HOH Ministries has hosted a conference entitled Inner Healing for Holes in the Soul. This conference is designed to allow healing, deliverance, and restoration to take place in the lives of the attendees. Additionally, we bring in experts - doctors and nurses, mental health professionals, counselors, and church leaders so that we can provide training and development to become more effective leaders and dispensers of grace.

»American Menu

April 18, 2015 2:00 PM

In playwright Don Wilson Glenn's "American Menu", five waitresses in a Texas diner swap do more than just take orders and sling hash. The ladies in this drama share stories about their personal lives, debate the consequences of the civil rights movement, and disagree about the existence of God and justice in the wake of the shocking murder of a young Black man. Though the story is set in 1968, its weighty themes still resonate today. Keith Franklin directs this New African Grove Theatre Company production at Decatur's Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church.
