Andy the Footless Goose captured the heart and mind of America with his inspirational life and tragic death. Andy was born without feet and unable to swim or walk, had to rely on custom designed shoes by local inventor Gene Fleming, to walk. Featured on both the Tonight Show, Johnny Carson, Reader's Digest and in People magazine, Andy was a local Nebraskan legend. Children loved Andy, and found both humor, delight and inspiration in his story. Iconic images of Andy in his signature shoes were printed across local papers and after his kidnapping and murder, over 10000 dollars was raised as reward money for solving the case. The black granite monument located on the Fleming Farm, details his story and marks his final resting place.
