The man-made Coyote Lake, often called Coyote Reservoir, is located 12 miles (19.32 kilometers) from downtown Gilroy, CA. One of the most popular tourist draws in town, the lake offers a wide range of water-related activities such as fishing, boating, water-skiing, and kayaking. Coyote Lake also forms the centerpiece of the Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Ranch Park. The area features many picnic and BBQ areas where your group can relax and soak the California sun. Anderson Reservoir, often called Anderson Lake, is an artificial lake just about 3.6 miles (5 kilometers) from Morgan Hill, CA, and is located next to the Coyote Creek. Made in 1950, Anderson Lake covers about 1,250 acres (505.86 hectares), making it the largest man-made reservoir in Santa Clara County. Named for the Leroy Anderson Dam that is associated with it, the lake forms the centerpiece of the Anderson Lake County Park which offers a variety of activities for local picnickers and visitors.
