This golf course can be found on the edge of the Montorfano lake in the splendid and sunny Brianza. The course was designed in 1926 by Peter Gannon and extends over magnificent woodland comprising chestnut trees, birches and pines and is considered one of the most varied and difficult courses in Europe. 20km north of Milan following the A9 motorway heading for Lake Como but exiting at Lomazzo, direction Lentate-Seveso, you will come across the splendid Barlassina country club. This is one of the most prestigious golf circles of Milan and among its 300 members you will find Milan's leading industrial and financial figures. The 18 holes of this golf course are set in a pleasantly isolated area, immersed in pine trees. There is a practice ground, pro shop, bar, restaurant and a qualified team of instructors are at your disposal.
Located on the Swiss-Italian border, Mounte Generoso is a popular hiking and tourist attraction for its splendid views of the two neighboring countries and stunning woodland scenery. With a height of 1,701 meters (5,581 feet), the mountain's summit can be easily accessed by hiking trails from Mendrisio, Bellavista and Capolago. A mountain rack railway is also available and takes visitors to its very own summit station eqipped with a hotel, restaurant, viewing terrace, children's play area and picnic spots. A small chapel and an astronomical observatory are also located here. Although a steep climb, the mountain is a must visit for the stunning views it provides of the might Alps and the nearby Italian city of Milan on a clear day.
This organization gives out information and leaflets on all the walks on offer in the Alto Lario. There is a path of the four valleys that leave from Breglia, over Menaggio, and through the Val Sanagra, the Val Cavargna, the Val Rezzo and Valsoda, and links Lake Como to Lake Lugano until Dasio. The route is well signposted and the walk can be divided into three stages of seven, six and five hours of walking. It also organizes things such as alpine help, young mountain groups and mountain skiing.
A mountain golf course, 100 meters (328 feet) above Lake Lugano in a park on the borders with Switzerland. Cretaed in 1962, planned by the architect Donald Harradine, the Lanzo Golf Club is well-known by those who frequent this holiday destination. The course, in beautiful natural surroundings, is varied and interesting. Thanks to the presence of the lake, the climate despite the altitude, is sufficiently mild. Number of holes: nine, Par: 33, Meters of golf course: 2418 (7933 feet). Open from April to the first week in November.
Play Planet is wholly devoted to children's entertainment. A large structure protected by nets and mattresses allows children to follow designated routes through slides, rubber balls, little staircases, tunnels and trap doors. Socks must be worn and the children are constantly supervised by young educators. There is also a bar with tables and chairs for parents and children where birthday cake can be ordered for any young celebrants. It is also possible to rent the space for a party. Age range is 1 to 13 years.
Sighignola is a magnificent mountain straddling the borders of Switzerland and Italy. It belongs to the majestic Lugano Prealps mountain range, and its summit is known to provide sweeping panoramic views of Lake Lugano as well as the entire city of Lugano. The summit can be reached by road from the Italian municipality of Lanzo d'Intelvi. The mountain, with a height of 1,314 meters (4,311 feet), provides several opportunities to indulge in adventure sports like hiking. This place is an absolute must-see!
The velodrome was built in the 1930s for Giuseppe Vigorelli. The track was covered by 70km of Swedish pine. The World Champions of cycling and numerous attempts on the world record have taken place here, Francesco Moser being the last person to break it. The Beatles performed here in 1965. Besides it being a cycling course, Velodromo Vigorelli is also used for football, hockey and skating matches.
This racecourse was designed by the architect also responsible for The Ippodromo del galoppo, has been restructured in 1975. The season lasts for a year with a total of 140 racing events. Evening races take place during summer.
This 1920 racecourse is the work of Vietti Violi. International jockeys and horses compete at the Ippodromo del Galoppo although the most memorable recollection is of the horse known as Ribot. A very impressive and world renowned track. The racing season runs from March to November (floodlit races from June until September) and 90 events will take place during this period. Mount San Salvatore offers both a peaceful spot in nature and a wide variety of outdoor activities. You can choose from hiking, rock climbing, walking or just relaxing at the vista points.
Found almost right on the border of the towns of Usmate and Velate, the public sports center on Via Luini offers a long list of sports spaces. Among these: a basketball/volleyball court, two soccer fields (one regulation size, one functional size), three covered tennis courts, a rugby field, a running track, an archery field, a bocce ball area and a snack bar.
