Peña moved to London in the 1960 to become a solo artist and subsequently exposed flamenco music to a British Audience. In London he shared the stage with legendary musicians such as Jimi Hendrix and soon garnered enough of a following to embark on his first world tour. He would go on to play some of the biggest venues in the world including Carnegie Hall in New York City. Fiercely dedicated to the precise art of guitar, Peña has released over two dozen records and founded the first university level course on flamenco guitar at the Rotterdam conservatory of music.
