»Caribe Salsathek

Although this club is called a Salsathek, more than just Latin American music is offered. Three clubs and a restaurant sprawl over nearly 20,000 square feet, with club one offering 80s music, house, techno and chart tunes and club two hiphop, soul, rhythm and blues, rap and freestyle. The Latin theme dominates in the third club, where cumbia, salsa, samba, Latin house and merengue rule, and in La Cubanita, the restaurant run by Juan Cabrera, a native of Cuba, who serves up tasty Latin American and traditional Cuban dishes to hungry party-goers.

The Peak is a tip-top party spot in the Stuttgart nightlife scene. It's one big location divided into two floors, one larger and one smaller, and each of which offers a slightly different musical mix. Thursday nights feature mainly hip-hop music, with Friday and Saturday nights being dominated by House and Techno beats. Although the club can easily be reached by public transportation, those who are driving should note that parking is available right in front of the club, on the Fabrikstraße.

In addition to of course paella, which is excellent here, guests can find many fish dishes, seafood, young lamb and rabbit on the menu, and dinner can be capped with one of the tasty homemade desserts. »LKA - Longhorn

Translated from German, the 'LKA' in the name of this establishment means Longhorn Cultural Exchange. Originally opened in 1984 as a country and western bar, the place was usually packed with US Americans. After the withdraw of US military forces during the 1990s, however, the concept had to be changed and the cultural exchange was born. It is now a disco and concert hall with a mixed program. Wednesday is amateur night, devoted to promoting local talent; Thursday is Classic Oldie night, with music from the 70s and 80s drawing an older crowd; Fridays is grunge, alternative, industrial and freestyle night, with a predominately younger crowd; and Saturday nights features a wide range of musical styles and draws a diverse crowd.

»Kiste- Livemusik, Jazzclub und Bar

In the heart of Stuttgart lies Kiste, the premier jazz club in the city. Translating as 'crate', Kiste is really a place that nurtures and gives prominence to the budding 'jazzists' from Stuttgart as well as other neighboring areas. The interiors are that of any typical jazz club- the lighting is dim; the atmosphere casual and laid-back; and there is a live band playing either their original tracks or classics by such legends as Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald or Etta James. If you are into the smooth honey-dripping music of this originally American art form, then do visit Kiste, because it will also give you the opportunity to discover Stuttgart's mostly unknown, yet vibrant and alive, jazz scene. Please see the website for details on upcoming shows and other information.

This cafe and bistro is part of the Stuttgart gay and lesbian scene, and it has lots of heterosexual guests too. The food is quite good, with lighter, modern interpretations of classic European dishes offered (particularly recommended are the potato pancakes with salmon), and a popular all-you-care-to-eat pasta special Tuesday evenings from 8pm on. Of course, many come just to enjoy drinks and conversation, so you will feel comfortable just lingering over drinks if you'd like.
