Solitude Palace (Schloss Solitude)
Tu to Sa from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM,Tu to Sa from 01:30 PM to 04:00 PM,Su from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PMSolitude means loneliness and so this palace is appropriately located outside the city. Originally planned as a quiet little hunting seat, it turned into quite an ambitious project with Schloß Sanssouci in Potsdam serving as an example to strive for in the Duke's mind. From here you get a great view of the adjacent street that leads directly to the former residence, Schloß Ludwigsburg. Only parts of what was once an impressive palace have survived. However, the palace is still worth a visit when in Stuttgart. It is a popular location, not only because of the views, but also for concerts and exhibitions, without ever being overrun with crowds. Concerts also take place in the Main Hall of the palace. The restaurant and chapel are a very popular among wedding couples. The palace was built in 3 construction phases, starting in 1764. In the last years the Carlsschule (school) was built, which was later moved to the city center. The school owes its fame to the prominent former pupil, Friedrich Schiller.
