Vettisfossen is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Utladalen (Utla Valley). It has a free fall of 275m which makes it the tallest unregulated freefalling waterfall in Norway. The Utladalen is a very popular hiking area and it has several unregulated waterfalls (e.g. Hjellefossen and Avdalsfossen).
The buildings here are reconstructions of houses from Medieval Norway. The farm was built in 1994 for the shooting of the film Kristin Lavransdatter, based on Nobel Laureate Sigrid Undset's famous novel of the same name. Now a leisure center, Jørundgard has activities for families and guided tours in several languages. You are also welcome to try the medieval food, but children usually prefer the sour cream porridge to the salty dried meat. Children may also be enthralled by the animals walking around.
Jotunheimen National Park is an astonishing treat for visitors, with its glaciers, deep lakes and high mountains - including Norway's highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen (2,469 m)! The national park offers excellent conditions for hikers, cross-country and alpine skiers, cyclists, climbers, and is also great for activities like glacier walking, rafting, caving, canyoneering and riding. It is a true haven for outdoor people!
