A member of the NCAA's Division I, the university competes in the
Southern Conference and the Football Championship Subdivision. Furman sponsors men's and women's athletic programs in a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, cross country, football, lacrosse, tennis, softball and volleyball.
Florida State University is a public university based out of Tallahassee, Florida that was founded in 1851. The athletic teams that represent the school in the NCAA Division I are called the Seminoles--a nod to the Native American tribes of the area. Though the university plays host to a wide variety of sports, including sandvolleyballand golf, it is probably best known for its basketball and football teams.
