Built as a temporary dwelling by Isaac Tripp, one of the first settlers in Scranton, the Tripp Family Homestead is a special events facility that organizes, private parties and weddings. It is over 200 years old and is one of the oldest buildings of the city.
Built using Neo-Gothic architecture between 1881-1934, this cultural center used to be the Masonic Temple and Scottish Rite Cathedral. It now houses a ballroom with attached balconies (even a junior ballroom), a library, a ladies parlor, and the Shopland Hall - all of which are available for rent for various occasions. People have rented this romantic looking building for weddings, corporate events and parties. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and with its opulent but tasteful décor you can see why.

A nationally acclaimed parade held the weekend before the blessed feast day, Scranton's St. Patrick's Day Parade is "the second largest parade in the country." The parade route begins on Wyoming Avenue in front of St. Peter's Cathedral, proceeds to Lackawanna Avenue over Jefferson Avenue then down Spruce Street to get to Washington Avenue where it passes the William J. Nealon Federal building and finally the reviewing stand. The parade is preceded by the Parade Day Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral and the Brian Kelly Memorial Race.
Underwood Skatepark is a dedicated address for skating enthusiasts in Taylor. Launched in 2007, it is one of the top indoor skateparks in town. A practice facility for amateur and professional skaters, they have also hosted demonstrations by renowned skate groups like Substance, Artick, Nocturnal and Heater.
