Established in 1908 solely for women, the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma has the unique distinction of being America's only public liberal arts college. The faculty have all been carefully chosen so as to allow for a friendly climate where students and teachers can interact with each other. The beautiful building which has completed a century is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Locally considered as Oklahoma’s tallest waterfall, Turner waterfall has a 77-feet (23 meters) drop. Situated in the Arbuckle mountains, this beautiful waterfall is famous for its clear waters and natural swimming pools. Located amidst the Turner Falls park, the magnificent falls are surrounded with the emerald green trees and mountain rocks. In addition to swimming activities, tourists can also enjoy other recreations like camping and hiking. Named after John Morris Sheppard, a Texan senator, Sheppard Air Force Base was established in 1941. It is the base of the 80th Flying Training Wing (80th FTW) and 82d Training Wing. It is the nation's premier military and technical institution. The non-flying wing trains all military officers including civilians in medical, technology and field training. While the 80th FTW equips fighter pilots and has 13 nations manning this project to arm not only airmen but also marines, naval officers and soldiers.
