Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AMIn 1747, a Venetian artist named Bernardo Bellotto, also known as Canaletto, was summoned to the Saxon court. The young man's famous uncle, Antonio Canal, had taught him how to produce exact replicas of urban landscapes. Canaletto's status was elevated to Peintre de Roi (Court artist). The young artist produced 17 cityscapes, 15 of which still belong to Dresden's Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister. Canaletto's most famous painting is the "Canalettoblick." This magnificent view can still be admired from the right bank of the Elbe.
