    The Iowa State Historical Building is located in the Historic East Village district of Des Moines. The building is home to the State Historical Museum, the Iowa Museum Store, the State Historical Museum Library and Archives, and Café Baratta's.     »Iowa State Capitol

    Located in Des Moines, the Iowa State Capitol building is imposing, but beautiful. Constructed between 1871 and 1886, this building houses Iowa's Legislature. It is the only state capitol in the United States that has five domes. It was one of the tallest buildings in Iowa until 1924 and it's central dome is gilded with actual gold. There is no entry fee to this building considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Des Moines.

    »Jordan House

    The former home of James Jordan, the founder of Valley Junction, which was to become West Des Moines; this restored Victorian Italianate Gothic-style mansion served as a station on the Underground Railroad during the mid-1800s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a member of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program, the home serves as a museum for the City of West Des Moines and as the office of the Historical Society. It is one of the oldest structures in Polk Country and the oldest in West Des Moines. The Jordan House is open to the public from May to September on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    »Sleepy Hollow Sports Park

    Sleepy Hollow Sports Park is a 60-acre sports and family recreation complex. Some of the many activities offered at the park include bumper boats, go-karts, mini-golf, climbing wall, batting cages, and sand volleyball. In the winter they also have skiing, snow tubing, and snowboarding.
