    »The Coathangers

    August 19, 2014

Atlanta-based outfit The Coathangers formed one night as a joke, playing an impromptu set at a house party and calling themselves The Coathangers as an intentionally vulgar reference to early abortions. After the performance, the band was asked to open for The Hiss and suddenly became a serious endeavor. However, as demonstrated by song names like "Shut the Fuck Up," "Haterade" and "Nestle in my Boobies," the four-piece group held onto much of its initial absurdity. The band's vulgarity has come off as charming to many, and coupled with the a catchy lo-fi riot grrrl sound, The Coathangers has found an audience among the indie rock scene.

Aerosmith is occasionally referred to as "The Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock n' Roll Band." Though these are lofty titles, the band's storied career as a blues-based hard rock band has earned the group a reputation as one of the biggest bands in the music biz. Formed in 1970, Aerosmith has experienced a number of career arcs during its decades long existence and based off its current trajectory, the band doesn't look like its slowing down anytime soon.
