Spread over landscaped area of 33 acres (13.35 hectares), the Vander Veer Park was established in 1885 and is said to be one of the first botanical parks of the region. Designed as per the iconic Central Park
in New York City, the park was initially called Central Park, but renamed in 1912 after A.W. Vander Veer, the first Park Council Commissioner of Davenport. As of today, the Vander Veer Park features a music pavilion and a conservatory.
