Indian Temple Mound and Museum caters to the ancient mound that was discovered here and the various excavation findings. The mound structure at the site can be traced back to 1200 A.D and was inhibited by the native American Indian tribes. Many artifacts, remains and relics have been found here that belong to the village of Mississippians and the many tribes that lived in the area. The museum has a collection of these artifacts which is known to be the largest in the country. The collection depicts a lot about the contemporary culture and lifestyle of the people. Fishing is a huge part of the history and culture of the coastal town of Destin, and curious visitors can learn all about it at the Destin History and Fishing Museum. The museum includes a huge display illustrating the fish species who inhabit the Gulf of Mexico, antique fishing equipment and the oldest seine fishing boat still in existence. There is also an old Post Office building that's worth exploring.
