Albany Motor Speedway is a hub for motor racing enthusiasts. The 1/4 mile semi-banked clay oval track is well-maintained for various motor sports. The Exchange Club Fairgrounds were primarily meant to host the Exchange Club Fair of South Georgia. However, this open air venue is among the few outdoor facilities in the city and hence one of the most sought after too. Spread across 60 acres (24.28 hectares), Middle Georgia Raceway first opened in 1966 as Nascar Grand National's raceway. It was the site of the 2nd Annual Atlanta Pop Festival. It closed down in 1971 and was not in function for decades. Tim Thornton bought the property in 2006 to develop it for commercial purposes but that plan got stalled. Now it hosts the annual Racers Reunion which was first held here in 2011, 2013 Dukes of Hazard Reunion, country music concerts and monster truck shows.
