Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville is their fourth location and it opened its doors in 2011, becoming a popular meeting place for the locals. It is an amalgamation of art, politics and culture by regularly hosting live entertainment, poetry readings and annual rotating exhibits. There is also a book corner showcasing local authors featuring political, fiction to nonfiction books. Whether it is to dine on delish meals which is designed for all palates from vegan to meat eaters or just hangout for a healthy discussion, Busboys and Poets is an affable space that will surely charm you.

This friendly and healthy restaurant offers Korean fare, and more, with flair. The interior is simply appointed with white walls and pop art. The bi bim bahp, shredded, marinated veggies served over steamed rice with spicy bean paste, is not to be passed up. There is also jahp chae, clear noodles and rice, Korean short ribs, teriyaki fish, focaccia sandwiches, salads and even burgers to choose from. The espresso drinks of Mark's Kitchen are delicious, as are the teas. For the adventuresome, try the radish vegetable juice from the juice bar.

»Piratz Tavern

As the name suggests, this pirate hideout boasts of some old relics right out of a ship. The wood-paneled walls of Piratz Tavern, are adorned by pistols and pirate flags abound within. Make your way to the dining room where you'll find lantern-lit tables, which are complemented by huge knives to go with the theme. Seafood and Caribbean cuisine dominate the menu. If you go past the dining room into the bar, you'll find a huge table and sword-swallowing bartenders offering rum and beer varieties. They offer a great 12pm Sunday Piratz Brunch Buffet where for a decent prices kids have brunch as well as a sword fighting lesson,a certificate and take home a full size toy sword and eye patch. Although they are a tavern they are also kid friendly with a kids menu, kids lounge with pirate movies and children are given take-home coloring books and pirate toys when they are seated. They also have live entertainment predominantly on weekends that includes pirate singers, sword fighting, belly dancing and fire shows.
