This family-run restaurant near Pinellas Parkside Mall called 4300 Park Boulevard, prides itself on serving large portions at reasonable prices. A meal for two is likely to be big enough for four. Grills are a specialty here—beef, pork and chicken, seasoned with rosemary, basil and garlic, are all served with your choice of rice or pasta.
The dress code here is shorts and t-shirts and that is if you are going formal. An open-air beach shack that is not on the beach, Kahuna's tries hard, offering tikis and thatched roofs to keep the theme going. There is a sand volleyball court here and Jimmy Buffet tunes are played on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month when local Buffet fans/Parrot-heads gather. Winding up long weeks, the Friday Afternoon Club meets from 5:30p to 8:30p and is entertained with a radio DJ hosting dance tunes and hula-hoop contests. Besides full bar service, this lively diversion offers a variety of salads, burgers and seafood sandwiches.
The Crab Shack (and it truly is a shack!) serves up good, plainly cooked seafood, not on a white tablecloth but on oilcloth with plenty of extra utensils to get you cracking, picking and fishing meat out of shells. There is serious seafood-eating going on here, and shellfish fans make a beeline to this spot when the crab craving hits. You choose from seasonal entrees, Smoked Mullet or Salmon if you're not up for the crab cracking effort. Iced tea and beer are the favored options.
It is always coffee time at Cafe Mozart. In this immaculately clean shop, you'll want to linger over a plate of 'kuchen' or one of many varieties of strudel, and savor a bit of Europe. At John and Maggie Hipfl's German bakery, you'll sample a rich dark rye, fresh out of the oven, or a square of pumpernickel with a hint of molasses. While fresh breads from this bakery melt in your mouth, they specialize in cakes and pastries. Eat right here, or they'll wrap up your treats.
At The Tilted Kilt, the atmosphere is fun and busy as the waitstaff and bartenders, each dressed in an authentic kilt, who serve specialty drinks and brews along with delicious Scottish and Irish specialties, such as Danny Boy's Shepherd's Pie, Longshank's Platter and Gaelic Chicken.
