    »Periphery

    October 24, 2014 6:30 PM

Periphery is a progressive metal band from Washington, D.C. that's signature blend of polymetric grooves and soaring melodies continues to attract listeners who are looking for one of the moreinnovativeacts of the modern metal scene. With a nearexhaustivetouringschedule, Periphery has toured with the likes of DevilDriver, Animals as Leaders and The Dillinger Escape Plan, in addition to headlining its own shows. Having toured so much before releasing a proper LP helped solidify the band's sound, making the group's 2010 debut sound like a polished gem cranked out by some veteran band that has been together for decades.

    »Jeff The Brotherhood

    October 24, 2014

Notorious for playing spontaneous rock shows on the rooftops of Nashville, brother Jake and Jamin Orall formed Jeff the Brotherhood in 2006 to channel its raucous energy into a garage-inspired indie rock project. Though the brothers had been releasing limited addition records and touring throughout the 2000s, Jeff the Brotherhood began to see national attention with the release of its fifth studio album Heavy Days, in 2009. The band captured a national audience with its stripped down rock and roll tinged with psych flourishes as well as industry attention that led to a collaborative EP with Best Coast and a live album released through Jack White's Third Man Records. In the subsequent years, Jeff the Brotherhood's media exposure skyrocketed with the band's television and major festival debuts as well as back to back studio albums in 2011 and 2012.

    »Guided By Voices -- Cancelled

    October 24, 2014 8:00 PM

The Dayton, Ohio based band Guided by Voices helped write the book on lo-fi rock in the 1980s. The group would use extremely cheap tape recording methods and feeble instruments to create a characteristic form of noise that sounded like the material produced by a bunch of uneducated, Neanderthal-like individuals who have no musical background but are given instruments and told to record a few tracks using a partially broken tape recorder. The amount of recordings Guided by Voices has created is impressive, though, and the amateur tunes that the group wrote resonated with quite a quite a lot of people, causing the band to go down in the annals of music history as one of the more innovative groups to have ever recorded music within the lo-fi genre.
