The Salt Palace is a prime attraction of Texas' Grand Saline, a city perched upon a salt deposit and where salt is an important asset. The small structure of The Salt Palace is the third one to be built on the site. The first one was built in 1936, following its demolition another one was constructed in 1975. The current building, established in 1993, is made of rock salt. A small museum housed within the palace exhibits paraphernalia and artifacts related to mining. A short video displays the mining process.
