Bars & Cafes
It is an understatement to call this bar an authentic English pub: the The Broadmoor bought the pub and had it moved from England to the hotel's Colorado Springs property. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for enjoying one of its many imported beers. Drinking from one of the Yard glasses is a quick way to get intoxicated. If you require food, dig into an English delight like a piping hot meat pie. Stop by in the evening for live piano entertainment and bar-wide sing-alongs.
How many times have we all just felt like a light bite but were a little overwhelmed by all the flashy, and 'over the top' restaurants available at hotels? But when at The Broadmoor there's no need to feel like the above because just one visit to Café Julie is enough to make you fall in love with this homely, charming and friendly place. It is an informal but extremely tasteful European styled café with indoor and outdoor seating, colorful decor and fresh flowers gracing the tables. And that's not all that's fresh -the fare here is as fresh as can be, with healthy, tasty and light lip-smacking options. Coffee, pastries, salads, sandwiches are a favorite here. Hours vary seasonally; call for opening hours.
Espresso News is a delightful patisserie cum coffee bar with woody hues and a checkered tiled floor which lends it an attractive moody ambiance. Espresso's is a delightful breakfast option which also serves light lunches and a variety of snacks and savory items. Waking up at The Broadmoor is an experience made more pleasurable by visiting the Espresso for a morning coffee and a muffin while reading a newspaper or a book. Favorites here include doughnuts, sandwiches, salads, light fluffy pastries with an assortment of beverages, juices and sodas to wash them down.
Spa Café is a well loved part of The Broadmoor Spa facility which is located at The Broadmoor. The café has a beautiful indoor pool as its backdrop. It offers normal spa fare, including healthy salads, sandwiches, appetizers, entrées and so much more, including a variety of beverages and juices. For those of you who aren't looking for the lighter options, there are a variety of exotic dishes like the Vine-Ripened Tomato à la Romana, Madras Green Curry Shrimp or something closer to home like the delicious Buffalo Hot Wings or the good ol' burger and fries. Hours vary seasonally; call for more details.
The Golf Club Grille is adjacent to The Golf Club Dining Room and is a casual sports grille overlooking the large golfing grounds at The Broadmoor. The grille offers a takeout menu for those on the move. For those who prefer to sit and dine, they can enjoy the big-screen televisions or just gaze out at the beautiful expanse of green lawns and trees. Lunches are available daily but dinner is only held at the grill seasonally or for a special occasion. Hours vary seasonally; call for more details.
This relatively young brewing company helps solidify Colorado's world claim as being the Napa Valley of microbreweries. What began in 1994 as a "hope-this-works" endeavor has evolved into a rising player in the competitive world of beer making. The company opens its doors to the public daily for tasting, beer to go, and pints in the tasting room. Opt for the Laughing Lab Scottish ale which won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival, or the popular Red Rocket.
Every city has distinct landmarks and local hot spots, Manitou Springs is no exception to this. The Ancient Mariner is an integral part of the city and is surely a historic tavern that is worth visiting. This renowned bar offers variety of drinks, ranging from daiquiri, microwbrews to margaritas. Rather than the dull pub grub, it features an interesting menu that includes pizzas, burgers, po'boys, reubens and so forth. Come weekend, and every one heads here to catch the live performances by popular bands and artists. And, make sure that you carry enough cash as Ancient Mariner does not accept credit cards. Check website or call ahead for more details.
At motif, you'll hear live jazz music playing on weekends-- a great backdrop for a night out. The decor is modern yet comfortable, with green couches and chairs on the patio and plenty of lounge space by the mosaic tiled wall inside. On the martini menu, you'll find such tasty options as the English Cucumber, made with cucumber infused vodka. The menu features small plates and desserts, including the white truffle fries and warm chocolate lava cake.
This pub has a rich history, and its Colorado roots are apparent in the drink and menu options. The original Thunder and Buttons burned down in 1989, and its current incarnation opened its doors in 2004. Named after the two bull elk belonging to local legend Prairie Dog O'Byrne, the pub stands where one of the town's original 21 saloons once stood. Among the drink options, you'll find an impressive list of Colorado beers.
This biker haunt is the best place to visit if you are looking for some delicious drinks, amiable service, and simply awesome live music. Besides the entertainment, this place also rates high on its food menu, which of course is quite a rare thing for a place that promotes itself more as a bar cum entertainment venue. This is the ideal place to have a quiet drink on weekdays, and a smashing time over the weekend. Besides live music, patrons of Southside Johnny's can occasionally groove to DJ music as well.
It is an odd mesh to find this French cafe-like gem in the Western themed historic district of Old Colorado City. Exposed brick walls, tall windows that lend for perfect people watching, and the heady scents of baking bread and freshly ground coffee make this a very popular stop. Espresso, cappuccino and lattes are all offered and make for perfect companions to its food menu of croissants, fruit plates, cheeses, breads and its highly praised French Onion soup. Late Sunday brunch features an omelet of the day.
A true sign of this restaurant's popularity is that it is described as "where the locals eat." Casual and unassuming, it offers an umbrella-covered patio that provides a great perch for people watching along Old Colorado City's historic strip. Breakfast is served all day and includes all the usual fare as well as chicken fried steak, three egg omelets and eggs benedict. The lunch menu offers a varied selection of Mexican dishes, burgers, sandwiches and soup. Beer and wine are available.
