    »The Duhks

    October 01, 2014 8:00 PM

Hailed by The New York Times as one of the artists at the forefront of the neo-folk movement, The Duhks (pronounced Ducks) have won admirers as diverse as David Crosby, Dolly Parton and Doc Watson. This isn’t surprising, given the blend of soul, gospel, North American folk, Brazilian samba, old-time country string-band music, zydeco and Irish dance music, and the attack the band brings to these interwoven acoustic styles.

    »Trombone Shorty

    October 02, 2014 8:00 PM

Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty) is a trombone and trumpet player from the New Orleans area who is known for his high-energy, quirky take on the jazz genre. From reworked versions of standards such as "When the Saints Go Marching In," to unlikely covers of rock and pop songs like AC/DC's "Back in Black" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On," he revels in bringing a bit of firecracker irreverence to what can often be a stuffy genre. Andrews attempts to make the audience feel like a part of the show by offering up call-and-response group vocals and encouraging everyone to clap and dance along. His feel-good style has gained prominence over recent years and in 2005, Andrews became a member of Lenny Kravitz's recording and performing horn section.

    »Broken Bells

    October 02, 2014 7:00 PM

Brian Burton (or, Danger Mouse as he is commonly referred to) is one of the more in-demand producers of his generation. His collaborative work with James Mercer, lead singer of the Portland, Oregon based indie rock outfit The Shins, is a project called Broken Bells and the two refer to their music as "melodic, but experimental, too." The project began when the two musicians met each other at a music festival in Europe and said that they were fans of each other's respective musical endeavors. The two agreed to work together and the studio sessions warranted an interesting debut album that was supported by a impressive tour.
