»Jesse Malin + Holis Brown

November 24, 2014 7:30 PM

Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardianMalin began his music career, at the age of 12, as the front-man for the seminal New York City hardcore band Heart Attack. Following the demise of that band in 1984, Jesse worked on several other projects, including the band Hope, before joining glam punk band D Generation for which he was the lead singer for eight years. As one of New York City's most noted bands of the 1990s, D Generation released three albums, including No Lunch before eventually disbanding in April 1999.[Malin didn't stop writing music and went on to form two other projects, PCP Highway (with former D Generation bandmates Howie Pyro and Joe Rizzo) and Bellvue (also named Tsing-Tsing for a brief time); the latter band released one album, To Be Somebody on Goldenseal Records. The album included versions of songs that would later be reworked for Malin's first two solo albums, including Solitaire, Basement Home, Brooklyn and Downliner.

UB40 is perhaps the most famous and most successful reggae groups of all time. Many people probably don't know this, but when the group first started out in 1978 in Birmingham, England, many of the band members where unemployed, which brought on the inspiration to name themselves after the unemployment benefit form UB40. UB40 has achieved immense success worldwide with top hits like "Red Red Wine," "So Here I Am," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," and "Can't Help Falling In Love." After over 30 years since the group first burst onto the music scene, UB40 is still continuing to make new records and is still bringing its infectious reggae songs to live audiences worldwide.

»Anais Mitchell

November 24, 2014 8:00 PM

Anais Mitchell is an indie folk artist from Vermont who transcends the typical twee, lovesick stereotypes that often accompany female singer/songwriters. Though her music falls in line with the gentle guitar picking and emotive, fragile vocal styling of modern indie folk, Mitchell approaches her lyrical output with a grand sense of scope that doesn't shy away from ambitious undertakings. In 2006, she wrote a "folk opera" called Hadestown that updates the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, setting it in a modern, economically crippled America. After touring the show across Vermont and other areas of New England, Mitchell set out to create an album version of the performance. She enlisted the help of big names such as Ani DiFranco and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, and in 2010, Hadestown the album was released to steady amounts of positive acclaim.

»The Circus Of Horrors - The Night Of The Zombie

November 24, 2014 7:30 PM

The Circus of Horrors is a musical variety act that incorporates unconventional acrobatics and heavy pyrotechnics. Introduced to the world on Britain's Got Talent in 2011, the Circus of Horrors is led by Doctor Haze, the ringmaster and creator of the group who describes it as a family of freaks. The group's shows includes the classic circus acts of fire breathing, contortion and sword swallowing and then adds acrobatic roller skating, hair dangling, extreme fire limbo and human pyramids. While Circus of Horrors performs in full costume and make-up, its dark aesthetic does not overshadow the musical skill of Doctor Haze and his band of performers. The Circus of Horrors' do-or-die show is a display of guts, gore and rock and roll, bringing musical merit and talent back to the circus.
