The Saints John and Paul Catholic Church is a parish that has formed out of the merger of two beautiful churches of Burlington. St. John the Baptist & St. Paul's Church are the two buildings that are still functional and services conducted in both of them, owing to the common parish that they share. The mesmerizing architecture and and well preserved structure are an attraction. The lovely features of both the buildings give an ancient feel to it.
Located in Burlington, the Snake Alley, is a great construction with a road shaped in the form of snake. This zig zag road is well recognized by the whole world when it hit the registers of Ripley's Believe It or Not. Located at the Starr's Cave Park & Preserve, Starr's Cave Nature Center is a converted barn from the 20th Century that is now used for various events. Apart from being a significant aspect of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources' program on environmental education, this center is also famous for the folk music concert series it hosts. The center features provisions for outdoor activities like hiking and cross country skiing, and there are also many facilities that can be hired for private events.
The Crapo Park is situated in Burlington and is known for its botanical garden hosting a number of plant species. Spread across an area of 85 acres (34.3983 hectares), this place has its own arboretum with around 200 varieties of annual and perennial plants and trees. The park includes areas like walking tracks, a wonderful log cabin as well as the Starker Lake.
Active since 1940, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant makes large caliber products for the Department of Defense. Ammunition, artillery, mines, rockets and more come together at this plant. The plant's dam forms Lake George Mathis.
The Nauvoo House is a part of the Nauvoo Historic District, a National Historic Landmark. The house was initially meant to be built as boarding house in the 1840s, but was later turned into a residential home and renamed the Riverside Mansion. The structure has had many different owners, most of whom were unsuccessful in completely building it for one reason or the other. In 1909, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints bought the house and own it to this day. The mansion acts as a dormitory and is an important landmark in the neighbourhood.
Originally built in the 1914, the Henry County Courthouse has gone through several renovations due to it's unsatisfactory appearance. The courthouse was designed in the Classic Revival styles of architecture and is absolutely stunning today. The beautiful home is a place for all the legal activities of the County and is a great place to visit whenever present here.
